Artistic Licence

Working in the genre of "realistic art" you often use your photographs as inspiration. Now I have to say I am a much better artist than photographer and often a great moment will present itself and......where is the camera.....not with you!
This for me is often very frustrating but can often turn out to be an important opportunity to add imagination and creativity to your project.
Such was the case with my current project.
I took some photos of a lovely moment whilst camping out at Carnarvon Gorge National Park a few years ago. Some photos were lost and I had a very bad copy I had printed for future use....it has taken all this time to gather the courage to record this moment.

The really cute thing about the gang having a gossip and happy hour on the sign was an echidna actually wandered past the sign and they watched it amble past with great interest.....of course we missed that photo as we were gobsmacked lol!
So finally I took some artistic license and created that special memory.
This is my progress so far......
I am hoping the end result will veer towards delightful rather than dreadful. As this was such a special moment and is a very special place for us....but we shall see!
When I do have a camera handy I like to snap textures and references for future use.
I took these out in the country a week or so ago.

And I can just visualise some little birds on these rusty pieces.

I  have found a wonderful side benefit of creating art is constantly noticing textures, patterns and tiny details than once upon a time I never ever saw.
I shall finish with a "work of heART" which I have had to keep under wraps for quite awhile. But it is with my dear friend now so I can share it.
Pretty Wisteria...... loved working on it.
Did I mention.....I love what I do!
