Box of Delight

Do you have a little collection that quietly makes your heart sing? Mine is contained in this box.....a gift from a dear friend.
After some lovely mail recently I thought I would like to share it's contents  with you.......
You see I love to collect Art Cards......little images of art that give me joy. Some I have collected on purpose, others have come to me from friends.
I was delighted to receive these in the mail from my friend SUE
Two of my favourite things.....birds and art! They are so delightful! I love them.
These cards are from exhibitions or galleries....

These are clever artist friends work.
These I was lucky enough to have signed by the artist....
I have lovely friends like Sue who gift me gorgeous art cards such as these....which are just a few.
Wildlife art cards always catch my eye.
As does a postcard or two from friends.
Some I love because of the different techniques used to make them.....linocut, cutwork and patchwork.
Amongst these favourites are themes I love like....Ann of Green Gables from Prince Edward Island in Canada......
And Beatrix Potter and Hexies.....all the way from England.
I love to look through them and they are not ever forgotten.....a simple and inspirational joy. As well as admiration for the artists too.
I hope you enjoyed my little box of treasures.
Some new progress photos next time.

Progress

I have spent a great deal of time.....any spare minutes I could snatch with my pencils this past week.......my pretty rose now has its dewdrops.
So I am calling it finished.
The little Sacred Kingfisher has a few more twigs with more work on them and the branches needed but I am happy with how it is looking.
I had planned on just preparing this new rose......
But found as usual I could not leave it alone! Lol!
Not until it was finished!
I think perhaps I better find some fur or feathers before I bore you all silly......but oh they are so addictive.

Because Two is Better than One

More progress on my latest rose....all the details are now in place. I fancy a couple of rain drops, so they will be next.
And because sometimes I just cannot leave my pencils alone I played around with this little Sacred Kingfisher we photographed on Yellow Water Billabong in Kakadu National Park. We were so thrilled that we got to see both the Azure and Sacred Kingfishers.

Still a lot more work to come on the branches of the what looked to be a dead tree to us.....but I love working on branches and wood.
A beautiful thought from Wild Woman Sisterhood.

A New Project

I want to play with a couple more roses before I start on another "Pond" drawing that I planned with the Sedge Frog piece.
So I begin with transferring my sketch on to some beautiful smooth Fabriano paper.
And then the fun begins.....softly, gently, slowly.
How many colours do you think you may need for a cream rose with a pale pink centre???
This many.......plus more!
Todays progress.
I love the gentle and light blending on this rose. For me this kind of work takes on a meditative quality that I truly love.
I'll share more as it evolves.
Thank you to those of you who pop by and allow me to share my art with you.  I really appreciate your encouragement and lovely comments.

Sedge Frog

I have a finish folks and I am delighted! Little Eastern Sedge Frog is completed all ready for the framers. It has worked out to be well over 30 hours of work. This piece of A3 watercolour paper is completely covered in my beautiful Polychromos coloured pencils. Not an inch spare....
And a close up of the star.....
And closer still...
Happy dance people!
