Very occasionally you make a piece and it goes to another "forever home" which is terribly exciting.....BUT....you miss it or you feel there were little tweaks you wish you could go back and do......so I am revisiting this old friend.
I fell in love with her at a Victorian refuge, where she had been surrendered.
You can't see too much yet as I lay down the under layers....
Looking forward to reworking it.
"Brunswick Local" is coming along with lots of little details.
More work needed on the lichen on the post.
And Pelican needs more as well....
Very enjoyable being on the Brunswick River through my pencils.
I saw this lovely piece by the very clever Red Tractor on FB and thought I would share it with you. I really love their beautiful illustration and quirky quotes.
Have a lovely day.

A New Project
I have spent countless hours when on holidays at my favourite coastal spot trying to get just the right shot of a resident pelican on a huge rustic mooring post that I loved. Never happened....so I had to settle for a photo of the post and a separate one of the pelican. I have used a bit of artistic license with this one!
Beginnings......
And a bit more progress...
And I am now adding a bit of background....
Ohhh I LOVE those tyres! Really enjoying this one!
A little snapshot into what goes on on art days.....joy and silliness lol! Friend Maggie dared me with her camera....silly girl!
At the moment I am trying to organise my greeting cards....
Because it is almost time for the annual Queensland Wildlife Artists Society exhibition at the Mt Cootha Botanical Gardens. I have 3 pieces going into the exhibition this time.
It is always a wonderful show, especially if you love the natural world.
I will post again closer to the event.
You know I love the word "MAKER" ...... a maker of art, a maker of quilts, of cakes, of a garden, a maker of a home, a maker of pots.....a great cuppa, a beautiful meal, a maker of cardigans, warm socks......yes! I LOVE the word MAKER!

"Safe and Snug"
Is what I am calling my sweet snoozing wombat. I am calling this piece finished!
I spent some quiet time with my pencil and sketchpad this weekend. Trying out a few quick studies for some future pieces....particularly the Dusky Moorhen.
Never tire of seeing and hearing our Kookaburras.
I was with this sketch practicing the uncomfortable feeling of drawing a subject right facing with my right hand....sounds silly but it can feel not quite right...much nicer feeling to draw right to left!
I have a new piece started which I will share next time.

Challenge DONE!
Very happy scribbler.....the last 3 prompts in my journal for my 30 Nature prompts challenge....
No. 28 - PASTEL
I love the pastels hues in some of my garden succulents.....those gorgeous little pink tints.
No. 29 NAUTICAL
A humpback whale.....frequent visitors to the Queensland coastline.
No. 30 - FLOWER
Nev's Cooktown orchid. Nev is my Father in law and has this beautiful orchid growing in his back garden....it's a little pinker than I would have liked but ....
It has the honour of being the LAST one. It was a useful exercise for brain and pencil!
In a couple of weeks down at the Bay there is an art show happening. I am joining some other arty friends and putting two pieces in the show. I have chosen my Koala friends....as Redlands have also had a rapid decline in Koala numbers....seemed apt.
So getting them ready to wrap up for transport.
I shall post details of the show soon.
Quite a while ago I drew a piece that featured a rusty old Holden Ute for my Son on a whim....as you do. My Daughter in law recently sent me a photo of it in a distressed frame she had found for it.....I like it!
Talk again soon folks.
